Hey Everyone!

I trust you have all been doing amazing! I bet you would be delighted to know that we found a new restaurant for you guys to try out. I for one, am a big fan of Italian cuisine, there is nothing more romantic than Italian food. With that, I give you Colosseum Restaurant. Attending the soft launch dinner at the new space at the Two Rivers Mall, Colosseum did not fall short of anything Italy.

Here is my two cents on “How to Eataly” courtesy of Colosseum Restaurant and Eat Out Kenya.

The Food

(Because first we eat, then we do everything else)

Italian food is generally comfort food. The whole table sits together to have good wine and good food to make good cheer! We had all our meals shared – as is the Italian norm – which was delightful because sharing is caring!

For our starters we had different platters including Porchetta, Tempura, raw Red Snapper and Salami. I enjoyed the Porchetta and Tempura the most!

Porchetta– a cured meat, pork to be precise, its savoury, boneless pork of Italian culinary tradition. I enjoyed this the most.

Tempura – basically Zucchini that’s been battered and deep fried! Yum yum yum.

Then came the Entree… PINSA, yes, not Pizza… PINSA!

When I said Colosseum fell nothing short of Italy, I meant it! One of the most famous delicacies in Italy is Pinsa and has always been a very popular Italian street food.

A combination of wheat flour, soya, rice and water, make the perfect Pinsa. Of course, you can add vegetables, meat, or fruits. The chef at Colosseum is originally from Italy and he served us authentic Pinsa which was nothing but amazing!

Finally dessert! The best thing about having shared meals, as opposed to ordering individual meals, is that you get a taste of everything. Well, if not anything else, I think I enjoyed sharing dessert the most and I’ll recommend my favorite!

Panna Cotta – Italian dessert of sweetened cream. By far my favorite!

We paired our food with a white wine, Conti Formentini an Italian Vini. I mean if you go to an Italian restaurant you should expect to be served good Italian wine.

Drinking good wine, with good food, in good company is one of life’s most civilized pleasures.

The Restaurant

(The fairytale exists)

We are all in pursuit of a beautiful space to get lost in! I am convinced that Colosseum Restaurant fits the bill. You feel right at home, actually, you feel right at Italy. From the wall hangings to the actual Colosseum structure sitting in the restaurant!

The soft launch dinner was a beautiful success! Many thanks to Colosseum Restaurant and Eat Out Kenya!
